March to June and September to December. The lake town is open all year; monsoon brings fog and the odd landslide on the road up, and late December can bring snow.

About seven hours by road from Delhi through Haldwani; Kathgodam is the railhead, an hour below. Our batches travel overnight from Delhi so day one starts at the lake.

Mall Road along the lake is the busy part, and weekend traffic into town can crawl. Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal, 30 minutes away, are the quieter lakes and worth the detour.
